About
My name is Dr. Madhvi Mohindra, and Lamhe is my sanctuary of expression — a curated space where moments, memories, music, and mindscapes converge.
Born in the small yet culturally rich town of Bhiwani, Haryana, I grew up in an environment that was steeped in literature, music, and education. My late father, Shri Rajendra Pradeep, was not just a celebrated writer in Urdu, Hindi, and English, but also a revered academic — a professor, psychologist, and former Vice-Chancellor of MD University, Rohtak. His presence shaped me, inspired me, and silently guided me into a life where art, expression, and thought became inseparable from identity.
Though my first love was dance, and I embraced it passionately — performing on stage from the age of four — writing was a quiet companion. I would scribble poems and stories in diaries, hoping someday they'd appear in children’s magazines like Nandan or Parag. I never dared to share them with my family then — fearing laughter more than critique — but a few childhood friends, like Dr. Devina Chaturvedi, patiently listened, encouraged, and unknowingly became the first audience of my inner world.
I consider myself a lifelong learner and an encyclopedia of experience. My academic journey spans a B.A. in Dance & Music, M.A. in Hindi Literature, M.A. in Performing Arts, a Ph.D. in Music Therapy (exploring the emotional impact of Indian musical traditions), and currently, a Master’s in Counselling from the University of Canberra. These degrees, however, are just markers of a deeper truth — that I have lived, worked, and learned across multiple countries, cultures, and disciplines.
Over the last two decades, I’ve lived and worked in Fiji, New Zealand, and now Sydney, Australia, where I currently reside and practice as a qualified counsellor. My professional life has been as diverse as my studies: I’ve been a stage performer, dance educator, radio and television artist, counsellor, announcer, and marketing strategist. I’ve worked with Viacom18 (Colors TV) and Sony Entertainment Television as an events and marketing professional — producing and hosting cultural events like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Australia and India’s Got Talent Sydney editions.
Through Lamhe, I bring together all those worlds — the poet and the performer, the analyst and the artist. My blog reflects not just what I see in the world, but also what I feel, remember, and question. Whether I’m writing about womanhood, nostalgia, mental health, migration, motherhood, or music — each post is a moment captured in its truest form.
This blog is dedicated to my father, whose centenary year in March 2026 inspired me to revisit my own voice as a writer — a voice shaped by his brilliance, his books, and the countless cups of chai we shared discussing life and literature.
Lamhe is my offering.
To stories, silences, and swaras.
To all the moments that shaped me.
And to all the readers who will find pieces of themselves in my journey.
